5 DESIGN TRENDS THAT WILL BE EVERYWHERE IN 2022

The Cuisines Steam team is always happy to meet and discuss kitchen features that will be the most popular for the coming year. It is an exercise that we particularly appreciate because it allows us to focus on something creative beyond our projects’ daily routine and pushes us to discover often unusual details of the design world.

We hope you like these 2022 trends and that they will be sources of inspiration for your next renovation project.

The return of beige

Considered a boring and uninspiring color, beige is making a comeback in 2022! Already present in interiors designed by major designers for some time, it is now making its mark in the kitchen. With its naturally warm tones, beige is the chic, modern and organic alternative to white.

Sometimes grayish, sometimes golden, dotted with yellow, brown, pink or even green, beige lends a comforting and soothing air to the heart of your home. It is found in kitchen cabinets as well as counters and tiles.

The walk-in pantry

Looking for nearly endless storage and organization solutions? The famous walk-in pantry will satisfy all your desires without cluttering up your kitchen! It is also an original way to add color or different materials to your space. Hidden behind a door, out of sight, the pantry becomes a surprising room with a thousand and one storage possibilities.

You can even set up a preparation counter where your small appliances, such as the microwave, stand mixer and food processor, will be tucked away tidily while remaining within your reach.

The banquette

Nothing to do with the 20s breakfast nook, today's banquettes add an inviting and warm atmosphere to the kitchen, in addition to comfortably receiving your guests. They also allow you to leave the kitchen island completely dedicated to the preparation of your favorite dishes without having to devote a portion of it to an eat-in counter.

Favorite corner for eating with the family, homework space, your videoconference spot, the banquette has multiple functions in the modern home. You can also add clever storage solutions to maximize the use of space, such as wine bottle racks.

Lighting in all its forms

Lighting is one of the best allies of any successful design project. It can create cozy atmospheres, highlight unusual details, illuminate a worktop, etc. The forms of lighting in the kitchen are becoming more diverse; wall sconce, integrated light in a hutch or a light strip under an island…in addition to the classic recessed pot lights and pendants above the counter, they are combined to create luminous sources at different heights and intensities.

Table lamps placed on the counter offer a warm and subdued light and are amongst our designers favorite details this year. To adopt this trend, add a concealed electrical outlet on the counter to plug it in. There are also several portable lamp models which, once recharged using a USB cable, can illuminate your kitchen space.

The high tech appliances

There is much talk these days about connectivity in household appliances. This technology allows consumers to program and control multiple appliances in the kitchen using a mobile device. How about a range that, thanks to an app connected to your home's wi-fi, automatically adjusts the cooking temperature of your favorite recipe? It is now possible!

For induction cooking fans, Gaggenau has developed a cooktop that allows you to use the entire surface for cooking! You can use the full area of the stovetop along the 35 inches of cooking surface. Be creative with your space without placing your pots and pans precisely on the traditional stove element.
